Transaera shoots for $6M round for DOAS technology

Description:

Transaera, a startup founded in 2017, is tackling the energy-intensive problem of humidity removal in air conditioning. Their innovative approach uses a proprietary material to dehumidify air before cooling, potentially reducing energy consumption by up to 40% compared to conventional systems.

The company's initial focus is on commercial buildings, particularly warehouses, where they've installed their first dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) unit. This system efficiently dehumidifies incoming air, reducing the load on existing air conditioners.

Transaera's technology is particularly relevant in hot, humid regions where over 2 billion people still lack air conditioning. The startup aims to meet this growing demand while significantly reducing energy requirements.

The company has raised $7.5 million to date, including a $4.5 million seed round. They are currently seeking an additional $6 million to support field trials of their equipment.

By addressing the 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions attributed to dehumidification, Transaera's solution could have a substantial environmental impact, comparable to halving the emissions from the aviation sector.
