Spain VC Seaya raises €300M for its Madrid climate tech fund

Description:

On July 4, 2024, Spain VC Seaya raised €300 million for its Madrid climate tech fund. The fund is dedicated to “Article 9,” a provision in the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation Act that encourages investment firms to support climate-positive ventures. Seaya’s fund size ranges between €7 million and €40 million for the first check and aims to back 25 portfolio companies by the end of 2027. Its founder, former private equity investor Beatriz González, believes Southern Europe’s extreme heat waves and growing climate awareness, combined with a network of expertise in renewable energy, agriculture, and real estate, makes Saeya a competitive VC. So far, Seaya has invested in various climate tech companies, including: Bioma Makers, Clarity.ai, Crowdfarming, Descartes, RatedPower, and Samara, and Wallbox.
