Matovu Nkoba is a committed, caring, ambitious, open-minded, communicative, passionate, and driven critical thinker and risk-taker. He develops through challenges and setting goals for himself, and he makes great efforts to achieve those goals. He always looks for opportunities that can help him do better and achieve greatness. For his IB MYP personal project, he built a well for his home community to access safe and clean water. He faced a lot of obstacles, but through guidance from supervisors and other people in my community, he learned a lot from the experience. Nkoba also likes viewing nature and listening to birds, and music, chilling with buddies and adventuring.

Nkoba’s Story
After spending 18 years struggling to access safe and clean water, Nkoba recieved the opportunity to study in an IB school in China that helped him and his community access safe and clean water. Through the support from his project supervisor Daun Yorke, authorized by the school and local supervisors Muwonge Hassan and Matovu Stephen Muliika, everything went well with the project. His peers in the XLIS community collected all the funds for the project. This project serves 600 local households in his home village, Bwamulamira village, Kammengo, Mawokota, Uganda. At the School of Humanity, he learned more about artificial intelligence and Nkoba started planning a project in artificial intelligence called Nkoba’s Water Purity Detector.
