BEVC pursues $25M fund for life science startups

Description:

Founded in 2023 in Berkeley, California, BECV aims to raise $25M to expand its investments from human health to planetary health. The three co-founders, each of whom have backgrounds in planetary health, believe healthy environments are directly related to healthy people. Rowan Chapman obtained her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology, later serving as the head of innovation at Johnson & Johnson and the healthcare investing lead at GE Ventures. Widya Mulyasasmita pursued a PhD in bioengineering and founded the biotech company Biosciences. Finally, Risa Stack holds a PhD in immunology and co-founded the tech startup Menlo Micro. The three partners/advisors have already invested in Radar Therapeutics and Insamo, two life sciences startups, and they plan to focus their most recent fund on climate tech.
